What to include in a custom aluminum extrusion inquiry

Send the information you have and identify any questions you need help resolving. This checklist helps purchasing and engineering teams prepare an inquiry covering design, finishing, fabrication, quantity and delivery. You do not need to finalize every technical detail before contacting us.
01

Describe the application and what you need supplied

Describe the application and whether you need long lengths, cut pieces or finished machined components. Identify critical mating features and the product’s operating conditions. If the alloy, temper or finish has not been selected, explain your requirements so our team can review suitable options with you.
02

Drawings, samples and assembly information

For 2D drawings, send DWG, DXF or PDF; for 3D models, send STEP, STP or IGS. Include the profile cross-section and relevant assembly or machining drawings. Without drawings, provide a complete sample approximately 15–30 cm long or longer, or clear end-on photos with a ruler and a dimensioned sketch. Where fit is critical, include mating-part dimensions, hardware or gasket specifications, or physical samples.
03

Dimensions, tolerances and finishing details

Mark key wall thicknesses, assembly dimensions, tolerances, finished length and visible decorative faces. Specify the alloy and temper if required. Add machining datums, hole and thread details, finish color or sample reference, and any required standard or inspection criteria. State whether critical dimensions apply before or after finishing, and whether cut ends or holes must have full finish coverage.
04

Quantity, schedule and packaging

List the quantity for each profile section, color and length, including any planned delivery batches. Include the destination, requested schedule, packaging, part labels and matching components to be supplied. Minimum quantities are assessed based on the die, profile weight per meter, finish and production setup. Final lead times depend on drawing and sample approval, payment arrangements and the confirmed production schedule.

Quick inquiry checklist

Use the checklist below to prepare your request. Mark any item that is undecided so our team can follow up during the technical review.
Application
End product, operating environment and mating components.
Drawings or samples
Latest drawing revision, CAD files, a physical sample or a dimensioned sketch.
Material
Specified alloy and temper, or the application and required properties for review.
Dimensions
Critical dimensions, tolerances, machining datums and whether dimensions apply before or after finishing.
Finish
Coating process, approved color sample, visible faces and coating coverage on holes and cut ends.
Delivery
Full lengths or processed parts, quantities by section and color, and the required delivery schedule.
Packaging and destination
Part labels, separate packing, special crates and delivery destination.
